Mini Red Velvet Cupcakes

This year I decided I wanted to make mini cupcakes for my Christmas dessert. I chose to make some mini Red Velvet Cupcakes from a McCormick recipe. They came out ok, not as moist as would have liked, but the cream cheese icing was amazing!!! I got tons of compliments on them and my brother-in-law wants me to make them for my nephew's birthday party. My nephew loved them and was licking his fingers and his hands. What a cutie!

Pretty FLOWER Pens

Finally picked up some silk flowers to make some Flower Pens. I just love how these came out! Will be giving these as gifts. Will also be bringing them in to work as a pretty floral arrangement on my desk that is also functional.

First Crochet Scarf

So it's the middle of a heat wave here in NJ, but yet I got a sudden urge to pick up some yarn and crochet needle to give crocheting another try. I had tried before, but gave up because I could not figure out what I was doing wrong when I moved on to the next row. It would be narrow on the bottom and than would gradually increase as I moved up. It was so frustrating. Being left handed also was a challenge, but I bought a "Learn to Crochet" book that had left handed instructions. Finally, I was able to do more than just the chain stitch!

I recently ran accross a You Tube video on how to crochet. I was able to see how they were turning and had much greater success this time around and completed my very fist crochet item - a scarf (which I will have to wait several months to show off). I still think I am missing something in my turns (seems like there are these large gaps/spaces on the edges), but it is so much better than my first try last year. So now I have an itch to make scarfs for all my friends. I want to try out some other stitches and eventually also learn to follow a pattern. Just need to figure out the turns.

Welcome!

I love to dabble in various different types of crafts – when the mood strikes. I have made craft items for over 10 years as gifts and have also sold them to co-workers and friends throughout the years. Recently I started diving into the world of scrapbooking. Although I made a few pages, I quickly found myself enjoying using scrapbooking items to create other items - in particular altering tins and composition books. I also enjoying making greeting cards rather than traditional scrapbook pages. So I decided to take my hobby on the road and start selling on ETSY! It was so gratifying that people liked my items and they started selling! If you like some things you see here, come visit my shop at www.DribsnDrabs.etsy.com
